A Story
The family business started in 2022 with the first chili plantation.
It is on Rodrigues Island, a small treasure of the Indian Ocean, that Ti Piment was born in 2022, a family business cultivating land passed down through generations. Formerly covered with eucalyptus, intended for family use, the land was cleared entirely to accommodate a vegetable garden and then a plantation of lychee, grapefruit, and finally chili.
Cultivated with respect for nature and soil, no pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used. Natural and sustainable methods, such as composting, are preferred.
We cultivate, select, and carefully dry our chili peppers. Each of our packets is labeled, packed, and shipped by hand by our founders.
The Ti-Piment
An iconic chili pepper variety from Rodrigues. The Ti Piment, small in size but big in character, is known for its fragrant flavor and intense spiciness. Endemic to Rodrigues, it owes its exceptional qualities to the abundance of sunshine the island enjoys. Cultivated in a pure and natural manner, the Ti Piment is harvested with care, by hand, preserving its stem. They are then naturally dried, thus preserving their unique taste and aroma. A traditional craftsmanship that honors the land and culture of Rodrigues.
The Ti Piment is commonly called the Martin pepper in Rodrigues because this species of bird loves it. The term "Ti" is a shortcut of the word "petit," characteristic of the size of the Rodrigues chili pepper.
Rodrigues Island
Rodrigues Island is a small island located in the Indian Ocean east of Mauritius. Although less developed in terms of tourism, Rodrigues attracts visitors in search of tranquility, secluded beaches, water sports, and hiking. Surrounded by a coral reef, it has a unique biodiversity.
